A long list of satisfied customers...

  • What comes first when remodeling a house?
When remodeling a house, the first step is thorough planning and budgeting. This includes deciding on the scope of the project, setting a realistic budget, and hiring the right professionals. It's essential to create a clear vision of the desired outcome and obtain necessary permits before any demolition or construction begins.
  • Is renovating cheaper than buying?
Whether renovating is cheaper than buying depends on several factors. Renovating can be more cost-effective if the changes are minor and the current home meets most needs. However, extensive renovations can become costly and sometimes exceed the price of buying a new home. It's important to compare the costs of renovation with current market prices and consider the long-term benefits and drawbacks of each option.
  • Why is Restoration in your name?
When David started RCT 20 years ago he wanted to specialize in restoring craftsman homes to their original condition, specifically in carpentry and tile materials and accents. We’ve kept the name even though we’ve expanded to include so much more than carpentry and tile. We are general contractors with a background in craftsman woodworking and stonework…what’s better than that!?
  • What makes you different?
The business has always served a greater purpose than itself. When David started RCT, he and his wife were also beginning the process of adopting children from international situations. they’ve now done that eight times and RCT has been the economic engine supporting that outreach effort. Everyone who works for RCT has a commitment to the local community and expresses it in different ways. When you hire us, you know that you’re getting local impact. Also, we’ve been in the business for 20 years. That’s not commonplace these days.
  • Does remodeling increase home value?
Yes, remodeling can increase home value, especially if the upgrades are in key areas like the kitchen, bathrooms, or overall energy efficiency. Quality improvements that enhance functionality and aesthetics often attract potential buyers and can lead to a higher selling price. However, it's essential to consider the cost of the remodel relative to the potential increase in value to ensure a good return on investment.
  • What is considered a major renovation?
A major renovation typically involves extensive changes that significantly alter the structure, layout, or functionality of a home. This can include adding or removing walls, expanding the home's footprint, updating major systems like plumbing and electrical, or completely overhauling key areas such as the kitchen and bathrooms. Major renovations often require permits, professional contractors, and a substantial budget.
  • What defines a general contractor?
A general contractor is a professional responsible for overseeing and managing construction projects from start to finish. They coordinate and supervise the work of subcontractors, ensure compliance with building codes and regulations, procure materials, and maintain the project timeline and budget. Essentially, a general contractor serves as the main point of contact, ensuring that all aspects of the project come together smoothly and efficiently.
  • What is the 30% rule for renovation?
The 30% rule for renovation advises that you should not spend more than 30% of your home's current value on renovation projects. This guideline helps ensure that the investment in upgrades remains proportional to the home's overall worth, preventing overcapitalization. By following this rule, homeowners can make cost-effective improvements that enhance their property's value without overspending.
  • Can I pay by credit card?
Yes, our platform allows for payments in various forms including credit card. We do ask that you assume half of the processing fee of 3% when electing to pay by cc. That would mean your cost would be the invoice plus 1.5%.
  • Are you licensed and insured?
Yes we have a Class B license which allows us to work on both residential and commercial projects and pull all necessary permitting. Additionally, we carry general liability insurance, workman's comp, and other relevant insurances for all RCT personnel and sub contractors to ensure proper compliance with local authorities and peace of mind for our valued customer
